LEARN TO SKATE PROGRAMS
CanSkate is Skate Canada's flagship learn-to-skate program, designed for beginners of all ages.
When you sign up for CanSkate you will be in a program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development.
You will earn badges and other incentives as you learn fundamental skating skills.
Lessons are given in a group format and led by an NCCP certified professional coach.
Professional coaches are assisted by trained Program Assistants. The coach to student ratio is a maximum of 1:10.
Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches make sessions active using teaching aids, music and a wide variety of activities that create a fun environment and promote learning.
CanSkate is the feeder program to all other Skate Canada Skating Programs.
JR. CANSKATE
A learn to skate program designed for children ages 3-5, with little to no skating experience.
This program teaches children the basic skating skills such as skating forwards, backwards,
turning and jumping through the use of action songs and games.
Each 30 minute session is coached by a Skate Canada certified coach and trained program assistants.
Each session will include warm up, lesson and fun time. *HELMETS ARE MANDATORY*
Tuesday @ 6:20pm - 6:50pm
Winter Session – Jan. 10 to Apr. 10
1 day/ week $150 .00/session
CANSKATE

This program teaches the fundamentals of skating by building on what has already been taught in Junior Canskate or what they already know.
This program is ideal for future figure skaters, hockey players, ringette players or children that just love to skate.
Each 50 minute session is coached by a Skate Canada certified coach and trained program assistants
Tuesday @ 6:10pm - 7:00pm
Winter Session – Jan. 10 to Apr. 10
1 day/week = $190.00/session

STARSKATE PROGRAMS
Skills, Tests, Achievement, Recognition STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating.
Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating skills in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Tests through a nationally standardized testing system.
Skaters who have mastered figure skating skills in STARSkate may also choose to pursue synchronized skating or pairs skating.
BRONZE/SILVER
This program is geared towards skaters of all levels who have successfully completed the Canskate program. More advanced figure skating skills are introduced and improved upon. Skaters will recieve various group lessons (freeskate, dance, stroking, ect.) Private lessons are encouraged and can be arranged directly with the coach of your choice.
**FIGURE SKATES ARE REQUIRED**

Full Season - Sept. 13 to Apr. 13
1 Day Program = $400.00/Season

COACHES AND EXECUTIVE
Jessica Eustace (left) & Alyssa Smith (right) are the 2011-2012 Coaching Team for Skate Canada Lakeside. Both coaches have been trained through The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and are Skate Canada Primary STARSkate Certified. It is mandatory for all Skate Canada registered coaches to complete a background check and be First Aid certified.
